The Silky Pair – Happy to Help - One4Review

4 Star

****

This year’s Fringe is packed with female sketch comedy of varying numbers and standards but The Silky Pair, Kathryn Bond and Lorna Shaw are amongst the very best in my opinion.

Last years show was hampered by the venue and they did a remarkable job considering, but this year’s version is far better.

Their show this year centres on the idea of a sketch shop where they sell off their sketches to the highest bidder. Okay as in any show of this type some material is stronger than others, but all is of a high enough standard to enjoy.

Their show has an endearing slightly raw edge, not so highly polished as some but I viewed this as a positive. Lorna and Kat are engaging performers and their characterisation of Lorna the blonde sexy one and Kat the brunette slightly simpler one is well written. There were also times when Kat reminded me of Mel Giedroyc and that can’t be a bad thing.

Over all this was an excellent way to spend an hour and I look forward to see The Silky Pair flourish, so as the show is already doing good business, go catch ‘em while you can.
