Unmythable - One4Review

****

Temple Theatre’s concoction of Ancient Greek myths and legends is crammed full of dynamic action and imagination. The result is a fun show for all ages. Throughout their performance, Troels Hagen Findsen, Paul O’Mahony and Will Pinchin successfully meet the physical demands of the script and they make the comic timing look so easy.

There is a linear structure to the play. Jason has to retrieve the Golden Fleece in an epic adventure and we the audience are his Argonauts. On route, there are many diversions played out in humorous little sketches when many mythological characters receive some attention including Zeus, Hades, Heracles and Medea. The pacing is generally fast but I enjoyed the sketch about the wooden horse which was taken very slowly, thus giving a good contrast to what had gone before and what was to follow.

Praise is due to Mike Tweddle as director for making maximum use of the limited stage space available and keeping the action flowing along with use of many simple but effective props.
