Eurobeat – Almost Eurovision (Sarajevo) Wellington College 5 Star *****

I have to admit when I saw that this show was being staged in a small venue and abridged to an hour I almost didn’t go and see it. I quite like Eurovision and I had seen the original Hi-Tec production a few years ago and feared it may be a pale imitation and I would be somewhat flat.

But I was wrong. Very wrong

Okay it wasn’t quite as Hi-Tec, but there were the clackers, the vuvuzelas, the flags, live voting and a whole bunch of talented performers on stage.

Hosts Boyka and Sergei introduced the nine countries participating to win the coveted prize so nine cheesy songs, an obvious requirement some typical dance routines a company number and a different outfit for Boyka every number were packed into the hour not to mention the live text vote.

Okay maybe the routines were not perfect all the time, but the essence of the contest this show pays homage to came through in spades.

This was such a fun show I defy anyone attending not to leave with a smile on their face.

Oh the winner? Well it changes daily
