John Gordillo – Cheap Shots at the Defenceless 4 Stars ****

| On 09, Aug 2013

John Gordillo is certainly not a flashy comic. No fanfares for him, no eccentric costumes or audience participation, just an educated comedian who always delivers a well-crafted hour of his musings.

Gordillo has a aversion about reviews and not just at the Fringe. Anywhere where feedback is suggested is something he shies away from. He also has a thing about letters form internet service providers, mobile companies and other corporate questionnaires, some examples of these are displayed on PowerPoint to illustrate his cases in pointand it seems that a lot of what makes him annoyed the crowd empathise with.

But it is not just him moaning on, there are several sections that are touchingly caring, his impression of his father is laugh out loud funny and as for the section of illustrations on fast food restaurants signage, well that is worth the admission money alone.

There is not a clear message sent out in this show, and why should there be one anyway, rather a well written and definitely funny hour of material by a clever and intelligent comic.
