Lady Carol Betwixt and Between 5 Star ***** - One4Review
one4review | On 09, Aug 2013
I have to admit up front that I have been a major fan of this lady since I first saw her a few Fringes ago and each time I have seen her subsequently that feeling has just been enhanced.
I don’t know what it is that appeals most, is it her amazing unique voice, her ability to strip down songs so they seem made to be played on the ukulele, her self-penned numbers mixed in with these, her easy going charm and chat that link the numbers? I guess it is the whole package that appeals.
The 2013 offering makes a bit of a change, starting off as Lady Carol, then the metamorphosis via a comedy song to just Carol with stories of her life and family with plans to form her own religion.
She has the charisma to capture the hearts and minds of the audience and her almost hypnotic voice would sooth the followers, generally making their cares and worries subside for the hour.
There is only one problem with this show for me and that is the speed it flies by. I thought I had only been there for about 30 minutes when she was winding up but it was the full hour gone already.
Lady Carol deserves to be a major star in my opinion, why not go along and see if you agree.
