Lucy Porter – Northern Soul 4 Star **** - One4Review
one4review | On 16, Aug 2013
Lucy Porter is little, lovely, likeable and laugh out loud funny comedian who tells us from the top that this is her 22nd Fringe. How can this be when she doesn’t look a day over 30?
Little in stature she maybe but big in comedy talent for sure and over the years when I have seen her always delivers a well-constructed, up-beat and very funny set and this offering is of the same high standard.
Although born and raised in Croydon, Ms Porter has always had an affinity with up North, be it Indy bands, her University education, her time working for Granada TV in Manchester or just the people.
In a well-rounded set all of the above feature together with some of her early life anecdotes of parents, her marriage and kids, her meeting up with a perpetrator implicated in Operation Yewtree and the applications of her home town for city status are also stopping of points.
Lucy is a master of anecdotal comedy and is a very intelligent comic, she did win Celebrity Mastermind after all, and is genuinely a please to see as always. The teatime performance slot make this an ideal show to start off a comedy evening but don’t delay too long in buying your ticket.
