Luke Toulson: I Don't Know How I Feel About My Kids – Free 4 Star **** - One4Review
one4review | On 22, Aug 2013
Luke Toulson is another ‘big name’ comic who has switched to the Free Fringe this year and the show might be free entry, but the quality of the hour on offer is of a very high standard.
Toulson is not a confrontational comic, he is one where it is definitely safe to sit on the front row and what he delivers is a well thought through, written and slightly more cerebral set than many of his peers.
The show title indicates that it is a lot about his kids and true they do feature a fair amount but it is not necessary to be a parent to enjoy this material and there was plenty of other subjects he covered as well, all eliciting laughs along the way. UKIP and Nigel Farage , okay fairly obvious targets, school plays, marriage proposals and getting older were topics dealt with by the Toulson wit, and he also read from a few letters he received from girls while at his all boys boarding school, all to great effect.
Toulson is a comic that deserves a higher profile than he already has as he is a definite class act. You need to be quick to catch him this year but the effort would be worthwhile.
