Shirley & Shirley: Carnage 5***** - One4Review

Shirley & Shirley: Carnage 5*****

| On 22, Aug 2013

Shirley & Shirley are writer/ performers Joanna Carolan and Pascale Wilson and they are performing their piece de resistance Carnage during Fringe 2013.

From the off these two ladies hit the ground running and the pace of the show never falters during their hour. Something else that never ceases also is the quality of the writing and performance that they deliver, a show that could be used as a master class for performers to study as how to really do sketch comedy justice,

All the necessary ingredients are there to make this a laugh filled hour, short snappy sketches, some that develop into almost running gags and unlike some shows I didn’t spot any weaker material in the set at all.

Skits on adverts, the Middleton sisters as ghetto girls, lesbian school teachers Kerry and Fifi were such sketches that evolved each time adding a further layer of development and laughter and there was also time for some audience participation.

Any faults? Just two. The sketches were so swiftly delivered you were still laughing at one as the next one started and the fact that my stomach muscles were sore from too many belly laughs.
