Reginald D Hunter: In the Midst of Crackers 4 Star ****

| On 18, Aug 2013

There is no doubt that Reginald D Hunter is a big star in every way. He is big in stature, big in talent and a big draw when it comes to selling tickets.

Playing the cavernous Pleasance Grand his personality is more than big enough to engulf his audience from the off and he never lets them go.

Hunter is maybe a controversial figure with his use of the N word and opens with an explanation of this as featured in previous show titles also expanding to his much publicised gig for the PFA dinner.

The deep, rich Georgian accent makes one really listen to his opinions but the careful listening is worth it as no pearls of Hunter wisdom are lost in this exercise.

His family usually feature heavily in his material and there is no exception here, the arguments with his brother, the respect he holds his father in and advice on women he received are mixed cheek by jowl with Oscar Pistorius, Stephen Fry and of course Jimmy Saville.

Hunter is an engaging comic and the time spent in his company just evaporates as do any tickets that may be available so be quick to get yours
