Carl Donnelly – Now That’s What I Carl Donnelly Vol. 6 4****

| On 07, Aug 2014

Fresh from his nomination of The Foster comedy Award in 2013 Carl Donnelly brings his new show back to the Pleasance for 2014 and as always is playing to packed houses. And it is easy to see why.

The major change in his appearance this year is that his trademark glasses have gone and the reason for this is explained in his opening material and is the typical low key start that is his norm gradually ramping it up as the show progresses.

Donnelly is a natural storyteller and there is no doubt that events in his life recently have given him plenty to work with, his chatty yet hilarious relating of these makes the hour pass all too quickly. He is not a in your face comic just a classy comic with tales of marriage break up, travels to India, speedy travels to hospital, getting back into the dating game and an after gig party amongst others to entertain along the way.

There is no message from his show, just pure enjoyment for an hour. I can’t wait until Volume 7 next year.
