Coping – 4****

| On 25, Aug 2014

This was a very good piece about various people coping with relationship issues, separation, loss and the like. The music was very nice with good singing and excellent diction and the ensemble moments had beautifully balanced harmonies which sounded great in the venue. Backed by nice guitar work it was a joy to listen to.

There were comedic and serious moments with believable characters and excellent acting dealing with sometimes quite mature issues from these youngsters – six young ladies plus a ‘father figure’ man (who’s voice underpinned the harmonies very well).

My niggle was that it wasn’t always clear if sections were linked or not. Some points seemed to be told in flashback but were they actually? A little more clarity here would be useful. And the random pieces of short choreography – not quite sure what they were getting at there.

All in all a very enjoyable show, nicely presented and well received.
