As certain as the Edinburgh weather will be bad, the consumption of beer massive, the quality of the diet can be appalling there is another dead cert and that is Canal Café Theatre and Emma Taylor will deliver their biting take on recent events in their own inimitable style, song parodies, biting satire and general mickey taking of the names an events of recent times.
As usual four performers, this year’s chosen ones are Mimi Edwards, Matt Lee-Steer, Alice Marshall and Will Mulvey together with MD Michael Riley on piano, lead a packed house of ardent fans through a journey of the best of satirical topical humour you could find anywhere.
The guys are no respecter of rank, standing or creed these smiling assassins will stick the knife and the boot in with pleasure and this is reflected in the audience’s howling of laughter and applause.
So who get ridiculed? Take your pick of the likes of Cameron and Clegg, Putin, Farage, Michael McIntyre, Rebecca Brookes, Obama, Jose Mourinho not forgetting Boris are just a few.
It is always one of the quickest hours on the Fringe, yet one that is a ‘must’ see each and every year. I am already looking forward to next years.
