Caledonian Folk and Blues at The Guildford 21st Year 4**** - One4Review

Caledonian Folk and Blues at The Guildford 21st Year 4****

| On 30, Aug 2015

In what is always one of the longest Fringe shows in the programme each year local folk band Yard of Ale are once again hosting the event that runs from 20.00 to 24.00.

Yard of Ale are local stalwart of the folk music scene play every night and are joined by guest performers each night Sandy Tweeddale, Bedford Falls, FCUKulele, Maria Barham, and On The Wagon are the selected acts that share the stage with them.

For the duration Yard of Ale deploy a squad rotation system with Colin MacKenzie and Ian Lawson sharing the nights and guest bass ukulele player, yes really, Craig Wilkie performing each night with Peter Gillan and Alistair McDougald.

The music is an eclectic mix of folk music, both Scottish and Irish, country, American and even a token English number as well, all played with verve and enthusiasm all linked by the ‘humour’ of Pedro make this a delightful way to spend an evening.

The Guilford Arms is always a busy pub serving good food and quality beer, so when there is a free, yes I did say free, gig of this standard on offer too, then it is no wonder that it can sometimes get a little claustrophobic, but it is certainly worth the suffering.
