The Little Prince

‘What is essential is invisible to the eye’ Saint-Exupery tells us in The Little Prince. There was a great deal within this production that was essential to making it a success that was not clearly visible to the audience on the day that we saw it.

The large cast were enthusiastic but generally underwhelming, some failing to recall their lines. The banraku puppets were inexpertly manipulated leaving them looking like nothing more than oversized cuddly toys. Only when the cast joined together to sing chorally did the stage come to life.

There are a myriad of shows to choose from in Edinburgh this year – there would seem to be little reason to choose this one.
