The Techtonics – Don’t Push The Button 4****

| On 23, Aug 2016

The Techtonics are extremely talented Imperial College London students who have come together and created an award winning a capella group, winning this year’s ICCA World Championships in New York. With a wide range of music – Queen, Adele, Right Said Fred and The Darkness to name a few – they appeal to many age groups and the audience reaction to their songs was warm and enthusiastic. The quality of the harmonies was superb, with an amazing wall of sound generated for the up tempo songs and when required, they toned things right down for the ballads in their repertoire.
They have built the show around an on stage red button with a disembodied voice which links the action between songs. This is the only weak part of the show as some of their links fall flat, but their singing is superb and the group is packed full of talented individuals. I’m not surprised they beat the Americans on their own turf! 50 minutes was not long enough – go along and enjoy.
