The Lulu Show - Life on the Never-Never - 4**** - One4Review

A cabaret about boring old finance (anything but!) as Hilde Louise, accompanied by her wonderful band, deliver a very entertaining evening covering the excesses of the 80’s and the market crash.
Hilde takes us through the pleasures of spending money, through songs and burlesque. She loves her shoes and buying things she just can’t afford. It doesn’t matter though as debt is groovy, borrowing is clever and saving is stupid.
This is actively encouraged by her bank manager, described as some kind of lover who likes to spoil her by giving her credit cards and loans. She is shocked when this relationship ends and she has to give the money back. She can’t even speak to a person anymore, just emails and recorded messages.
Cleverly written and wonderfully performed, this show has all the elements required for a great night of cabaret.
