If you can navigate you way to this cellar, or is it a cave, buried deep down in the bowels of Edinburgh’s Old Town then you may chance on this absolute gem of a show performed with the style and grace, not to mention the wicked sense of humour of Alistair Barrie.
Barrie is no stranger to Edinburgh, this is his 8th solo show and in my mind probably his best, he delivers an hour of his thoughts and stories on the goings on both in the world and his personal life with the style and panache of the top draw comedian he is.
There is no ranting and raving, Alistair holds firm opinions on labels causing divisions, the ‘er actually no’ people who seem to take offence at virtually anything. Brexit and the EU failings, politics both home and abroad, unwanted sexual advances and of course Trump. Fairly standard topics perhaps, but the way he expounds his views in his inimitable style, pithy humour and probably more laugh out loud moments than most other of his compatriots, held his huge crowd in awe for the duration.
Oh and he has recently become a father somewhat against the odds, so ‘the baby section’ has both funny stuff and a feel good factor too.
Don’t miss out on seeing this show, ‘cause if you do you really will have missed out.
