The Hummingbird Effect - 3*** - One4Review

St Columba’s Free Church of Scotland is the perfect setting for this intimate solo cabaret provided by Deborah Brennan. If you are looking to escape the noise and madness of the Fringe then Deborah Brennan’s show will provide some sanctuary. The smell of incense and burning candles creates a very chilled atmosphere. The Hummingbird Effect is the name given to the idea that one moment of inspiration leads to another which leads to another. She relates this to a chance meeting she had with a man named John who changed the course of her future. Throughout the show she provides her own interpretation of familiar songs along with her personal story. If you are into the new age hippy vibe and the healing power of crystals then this is the show for you. Actually, if you’ve had a very stressful day at the office you might find this therapeutic and decide to run off to the Port Fairy Folk Festival to get your own Physic reading. However, for me it all felt a bit like a therapy session rather than an entertainment show.
