The Magnets: Naked 80’s Volume 2 – 5*****

| On 21, Aug 2018

A cappella has become incredibly popular in recent years, given the success of Glee and Pitch Perfect, so these groups really need to bring something special to their performance to stand out within this genre. The Magnets certainly do that and more.
Taking their theme from the albums “Now that’s What I Call Music” these guys provide their own unique performance of the popular hits from the 80’s. Together with their outstanding vocal ranges and brilliant harmonies they covered songs from a wide range of artists such as Madness, David Bowie, Prince, Spandau Ballet and Chaka Khan. This was accompanied by the phenomenal beat boxing by John Pointer and bass sounds by Duncan Sandilands. I seriously couldn’t believe what I was hearing when John performed a solo beat box master class in the holy trinity of rhythm.
They had great rapport with the audience keeping them engaged with their wit and banter about their memories from the decade.
These talented musicians with their unique sounds and harmonies provided a wonderful nostalgic evening that had the audience on their feet wanting more. I highly recommend you get your tickets soon before it’s a complete sell out.
