Feast of Fools – 3*** - One4Review

Feast of Fools – 3***

| On 14, Aug 2019

Storyteller Dan Serridge is a big personality for such a small room. Playing ‘in the round’ can be challenging, but he took it in his stride, taking his audience on an international journey of tasty tales.

Starting, as is traditional, with a toast, then quickly moving on to getting the audience engaged with tongue twisters, this was just a hint of the audience interaction to come.

We collectively chose the menu – on this occasion ‘delicious’ beat ‘disgusting.’ So our tales were from Table Manners from Japan, Bread from Hungary, and others, and between them included farmers, royals, wise people, expert chefs and bakers, and even a whole host of faeries.

There was plenty to engage even the youngest children, from designing our own meal, to actions through the stories, to making noises when needed. It wasn’t always totally clear what was expected of us, but Storyteller Dan had an answer whenever needed, and always got us safely back on track. A fun event for the whole family.
