Ginger Monologues 3*** - One4Review

Accompanied on keyboards and percussion along with two backing singers, Marie Ann uses a mixture of stand up and song to tell her story about the last unspoken prejudice of being a ginger.
She cleverly uses songs from her ginger icons such as Lulu, Cilla Black, Adele , Ed Sheeran and Rick Astley.
Going travelling was certainly an experience for her as a ginger. Hong Kong in particular, where she tells the story of dying her hair. This inspired her to write a song “Maybe I’ll go Blonde Again” to the music of Ed Sheeran.
However, she eventually missed her conditioned shiny red hair and is now happy to embrace the colour. This was helped when she found out that redheads have their own special powers and smell (not quite sure she’d want to brag about that one after she explains what it is).
She ends the show with her rendition of the appropriate song “This is me” with a message that we should be kind to each other regardless of race, gender and hair colour. This was a funny entertaining performance.
