Back to Black: The Music of Amy Winehouse 5*****

| On 13, Aug 2019

Reine Beau Anderson Dudley and her brilliant backing band deliver an amazing performance of the music of Amy Winehouse.
Reine has clearly studied this talented artist well, absolutely capturing Amy’s deep contralto expressive vocals throughout her performance. She leads the band brilliantly with her wonderful interpretation of iconic songs, such as Rehab, Me and Mr Jones, Valerie and of course Back to Black.
The story of Amy’s short lived life was delivered through photographs, newspaper headlines and graphics that were displayed on a screen behind the band. Interviews from Amy and commentary from various artists and music journalists were played during short interludes between songs, giving you an insight into what a special artist she was. However, not all headlines were complementary as the press covered Amy’s increasing drug and alcohol addiction, which eventually led to her death at age 27. Reine’s performance of Love Is A Losing Game, sung after the tribute that Tony Bennett made after Amy’s death was incredibly moving.
Reine and her band deliver a wonderful interpretation of the music with well put together musical arrangements and of course Reine’s incredible voice.
This was a complete sell out and the audience loved it.
