Jess Robinson - Legacy 4**** - One4Review

Jess Robinson – Legacy 4****

| On 07, Aug 2022

Perennial Fringe favourite Jess Robinson returns to the Fringe this year and as always is sure to be a highly popular performer.

If you have been out of the loop over the last few years Jess is a much-respected impressionist and as always her show has a real smorgasbord of ‘guests’ as she uncannily recreates them before your very eyes.

This show is more of the same, but with a twist, as the hour is more of a surreal musical. The basic plot it is in future, the world is ending, and Jess is charged by Olivia Coleman to save all the art and culture ever and take it on the last rocket leave the doomed planet. But things kinda go wrong

In the hour that the show runs Jess runs the gambit of impressions, ably augmented with VT interludes, a little audience participation, a couple of techy gimmick all adding to her immense mimicry skills, as the plot weaves through her trials along the way.

The audience I was part of was a little subdued on the night, maybe not giving the love that she thrives on, but there can be no doubt that we were witnessing a true pro at work, and what a singing voice! No wonder all the TV work comes her way and this will surely increase if the Tory leadership election goes a certain way.
