The is sometimes gold found in deep, dark and dank underground caverns, and this is certainly the case with this show. Comedy Gold For quite a few years in my opinion Simmons has been one of the very best, but not necessarily the most famous, of the comics specialising in the art of one-liners.

He has all the required skills, puns, quips, a masterful degree in mis direction all delivered with comedy timing to die for.

He is also a very likeable jester, not threatening in any way, and seems genuinely pleased that this afternoon crowd were on board with him from the off. The impression that this is a laid-back hour, and he is just chatting with mates, belies the work he obviously has put in to make the masterclass of the genre it is.

Audience numbers were extremely good, perhaps his recent TV exposure on the likes of Mock the Week helps to raise his profile, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he sells out repeatedly.

As part of the PBH Free Fringe entry to the gig is free, however a donation is requested to get out. Dig deep, it will be money well spent.
