Two of my favourite things are live comedy and drinking in bars, well tick both boxes, as Gus Lymburn performs his show from The Beehive Bar in the Grassmarket.

Booze and hangovers play their part in this one man show and we can all relate to the downsides of having a few too many. Nevertheless, Gus actively encourages his audience to pop up to the bar during the show if you need a refill.

This effervescent Scotsman picks on his victims beautifully, without even a hint of malice. However if you decide to come along looking like an extra from Pirates of the Caribbean, prepare to be chastised.

Gus likens the mayhem of the Edinburgh Fringe to being our very own version of Disneyland and he has a point, because there’s plenty of queues and you can spend a fortune without even realising it.

He takes us on a tour of Scotland, having grown up in rural Aberdeenshire and now living in Edinburgh he educates his very diverse audience on the east/west, frozen north/south divide.

Proper stand up with plenty off the cuff lines as well! Buy a ticket in advance to secure your seat or take a chance and pay on the way out, but but whatever you decide, buy this man a pint!!
