Marjolein Robertson – Marj 5***** - One4Review

Marjolein Robertson – Marj 5*****

| On 09, Aug 2023

Until last Fringe I had never seen Marjolein Robertson perform but she came with a great reputation, something she can only have enhanced during the run.
So it wasn’t unexpected that it was a full house at Stand 1 when I went to see this latest offering.
Despite having very little voice following a bout of Shetland flu, she soldiered on and then some. Marjolein is a consummate storyteller, entwining Shetland folk-lore tales seamlessly with deeply personal stories of her life.
The light and shade that she blended and captivated the audience with was spellbinding, there were times when the club roared with laughter, other occasions you could have heard a pin drop.
She is a compelling performer, has stage presence in bucket loads, an engaging personality and engages with the audience the ‘right’ amount of time also.
This is a finely judged show, delivered with maturity and panache and with a wicked sense of humour. She states that there was a time she was only happy when she was gigging. Well, she must be delighted with performances like this, as I know the entire audience would have been delighted with the hour.
Remember the name. This is a star in the making.
