Friend (The One With Gunther) 4**** - One4Review

Friend (The One With Gunther) 4****

| On 09, Aug 2023

I’ve seen a couple of “Friends” shows before and they’ve been pretty good. This one is no exception. Taken from the perspective of Gunther, Central Perks regular barista, it’s whizz through all the best bits and had the audience entertained for the whole 70 minutes.

Joseph Maudsley plays Gunther, the boy with the sunshine hair, as well as a number of other supporting cast members. It’s a show full of comedy sketches stitched together with witty songs and funny impressions.

The audience participation is very good indeed and it’s a really enjoyable, light hearted experience.

Gunther’s unrequited love for Rachel plays a big part of the show, sadly she never loved him back in the same way and we are reminded just how many times he missed out. He was never invited to London or Vegas!

He was very much the 7th Friend but kept on the perimeter, but there’s no shame in being a supporting character.

There’s a lovely tribute to James Michael Tyler who starred as Gunther on the TV show, who sadly died in 2022 from prostate cancer and you can make a donation to Prostate Cancer UK at the end of the show.

It’s a very family friendly show and it was a full house at Gilded Balloon at the Museum. If you’re a “Friends Fan”, you should stop by.
