The Wonderful Everyday

The Student Theatre at Glasgow presents The Wonderful Everyday. The clue is in the title. The drama takes place within a very well known large Swedish flat pack furniture store.

Jay and Sam are taking part in a reality TV show. A 24-7, literally live your life inside a store, with the cameras rolling and the curious customers strolling by. This is Big Brother meets The Truman Show. This is quite a concept but the real drama is really about the relationship between Jay and Sam. Their relationship is complicated. The idea is to win the dream prize. A house! A home of their own, but that would mean a huge commitment. Is their relationship ready for that? Indeed will their relationship survive the stress of living in such a goldfish bowl and being watched and judged by everyone?

The acting by the three main actors is very impressive. Emma Gribbon is a complete natural and very confidently takes on the role of Jay. Laura Milton plays the slightly neurotic Sam and Bailey Camack takes on the double role of Charlie plus the live TV presenter.

There are laugh out loud lines and there is high drama. This is a very impressive production from
Glasgow’s Student Theatre with a strong script and excellent characterisation.

Catch the show if you can. You won’t be disappointed.
