Elliot Steel – Soft Boi Core 4.5 **** - One4Review

It hasn’t been the greatest 12 months in his life for Elliot Steel. He may be a Nepo baby, his father being comedian Mark Steel, but things are not going so well, still living at home at 28 he muses things could be going better.
There was his breakup. He and his Home Counties girlfriend and Steel from Croydon had different ideas on travel and culture amongst other stuff, the snap election. Left leaning Elliot had to do a massive rewrite of 15 minutes for his show and his dad, being diagnosed and undergoing treatment for cancer. His go to solution was as a MMA fighter, he threw himself into preparation for a fight, but was that the answer?
This was an hour packed solid with content. He had plenty of material and found genuine belly laughs from the most unlikely subjects, poked fun, and occasionally barbed jibes at a few normally sacrosanct organisations, institutions and occasionally landed just the right side of what some may call offensive, but he is a likeable character and a very funny one too. His stage presence is compelling and the slightly different side of him that was on show was a contrast to previous occasions I have seen him perform.
This is a excellent show from a top class act, and the hour spent in a shipping container was definitely time well spent.
