Ali Woods: At The Moment 4**** - One4Review
one4review | On 21, Aug 2024
This is Ali Woods’ third year in a row with a stand up show at The Fringe having built quite a following on social media. This is a clever, funny, well written accomplished show.
Ali is very relatable and the show mainly focuses on his most recent and most significant relationship, and break up. It feels very personal and sincere as Ali tells us he was a late developer both physically and emotionally. He felt he met his soul mate aged twenty eight but it didn’t all go swimmingly, as he had hoped. The relationship is dissected and key moments are recalled and heartbreak, it turns out, can be funny.
Ali does go off on many tangents. His mother it seems has absolutely no understanding of mental health but that does not stop her from giving every family member a diagnosis. We hear about Ali’s previous very dull office job and how he is now literally living his dream of being a full time stand up comedian.
This is no surprise that this dream has been realised. Ali has much stage presence. He is relatable and a gifted story teller. This is a funny well written show and as it builds the title of the show makes sense and it feels honest and sincere.
A very entertaining hour of comedy.
