Joe McTernan - Lost 5***** - One4Review

Joe McTernan – Lost 5*****

| On 19, Aug 2024

Joe McTernan’s latest show, Lost, is a hilarious yet heart-warming exploration of life’s unexpected detours. Following a complete sell-out run in 2023, McTernan returns with a new show that reflects a new chapter in his life. Freshly single after a decade-long relationship, Joe invites the audience on a personal voyage through the highs and lows of trying to find love in your 30s.

McTernan’s knack for storytelling shines as he navigates the challenges of moving on. His fear of flying becomes a metaphor for the uncertainty he faces, providing endless opportunities for laughter as he recounts his adventures and misadventures. The highlight of the show is Joe’s superstitious granny, whose quirky beliefs and well-meaning advice add a delightful layer of humour and warmth to his narrative.

Having seen his show last year, which I enjoyed immensely, this is a step up for this Edinburgh lad, performing once again on his home turf.

What sets Lost apart is its balance of comedy and emotion. McTernan’s witty observations on modern dating are interwoven with moments of genuine vulnerability, making his journey relatable to anyone who has ever felt adrift. The show is a testament to resilience, and Joe’s ability to find humour in life’s setbacks leaves the audience both laughing and touched. Lost is a must-see for those who enjoy comedy with a heart.
