Jojo Sutherland – I You Were My Mum (Careful What You Wish For) 4**** - One4Review

Jojo Sutherland has for many years been one of the top comics on the circuit. She is a renowned compere, a very funny performer always in demand on the comedy circuit both here in Scotland and further afield and can get any party started. But Jojo at 11.30am?? Really?
But we were there, along with quite a number of early birds, well by Fringe terms anyway, to see her latest offering.
A relaxed show, Jojo on a stool, relating another of her more personal stories, with plenty of AV and of course with the beer not too far away.
Jojo talks about her mother, herself as a mother, her four kids especially her youngest daughter, she orates, warts and all, of her early life, and how her relationship with them is vastly different to that of her own youth. Oh and there is a contest as well, various points are awarded for good things, deducted for bad things in the anecdotal examples discussed.
The show I saw was a preview and although it was a thoroughly entertaining hour, plenty of laughs, a good dose of pathos as with all shows relying on tech, it takes a time to bed in smoothly. I am sure this will be in place by now and it will be even better.
