Let’s get this out upfront. I am not a lover of rap or hip-hop music in general but, the Fringe is the way to discover new (to me) things, I joined a healthy number of fellow punters to see what this very popular performer had on offer.

Hailing from London, Hammersmith got into Improv while at University and together with his liking of hip-hop has honed a mash-up of the two and royally entertained for his full hour. Taking audience suggestions, electronically transferred before the start and freestyling a jam-packed set based on a selection of topics and ‘games’ using audience reactions and involvement with mind blowing speed. He takes the most unusual suggestions, blending his backing track together with undoubted wordsmith ability, all held together with his outstanding comic ability. Laughs were generated from the get-go, and never stopped, his abilities to spontaneously cover his unlikely topics spell binding.

The hour flew by, it seemed no time at all before he was winding up proceedings, and I have to say that one and all had enjoyed a quality show from an excellent performer.

This was an hour well spent, and I’m sure before long the Sold Out signs will be appearing on the venue doors. Don’t miss out.
