As a child, Chris Turner dreamed of being both a comedian and a rock star, and in this show, he gets to be both.

Chris engages the audience right from the start, asking, “What did you want to be when you grew up?” He picks three audience members and learns about their childhood ambitions and the career paths they ultimately followed. With the help of his two-piece band, “The Child Labourers,” he then creates a hilarious rap on the spot, weaving in the information they provided.

A proud child of the ’80s (evident from his hairstyle), Chris delivers a brilliantly nostalgic musical performance about growing up during that era. He shares old photographs displayed on a screen behind him, clearly showcasing his early ambition to entertain. He also shares endearing stories about his parents and their unwavering support, despite not following in his father’s footsteps as a recruitment consultant—a career path he humorously jabs at throughout the show.

As a proud father himself, Chris also shares funny anecdotes about his family life, particularly his experiences with child daycare.

This wonderfully presented musical comedy stand-up show carries a heartfelt message: have fun, stay childish, and follow your dreams. The show I attended was sold out and the audience loved it.
