Kemah Bob – Miss Fortunate 4.5 **** - One4Review
one4review | On 13, Aug 2024
Kemah Bob is an import from Texas and now London based has already been seen on TV and read on Radio for a while, so it is probably surprising that this is her first time doing a Fringe hour.
Along with many others we were packed into the sweatbox to see what Kemah Bob had to offer. And there was plenty .. and then some.
There is crowd work, there are jokes there is singing, there is a little of her heritage, and she has plenty to say, and plenty of laughs embedded it the time available.
The main story centres around that she went on a break to Thailand to get away from mental health issues and take some sights, scenes and lifestyle changes that this country offers. They relate the story, often self-deprecating, of the time and not inconsiderable money, spent seeing the best in people and ignoring red flags by the score, resulting in a speedy exit.
Bob has all the materials and comedy techniques in their locker, and masterly use of call-backs is the norm. There is a plethora of stage presence and likability, and this coupled with excellent writing and delivery made this an very worthwhile hour spent in the sauna of a venue.
