Lucy Porter – No Regrets 4 1/2 ****

| On 10, Aug 2024

Lucy Porter first performed at the Fringe in 1992, she opens with, and has been a virtual ever-present since. She has played all the big venues and gathered a regular army of fans. It was little surprise therefore when hiding away in a virtual cave in the heart of the old town they found her and followed.
It is easy to see why. Lucy has always been a funny lady, she also is uber nice and inclusive and you can always guarantee a good time with plenty of laughs.
She was asked in an interview if she had any regrets in her life and listed quite a few. Unusual the interviewer said most people say none at all.
On the back of that, this show was born. She lists the things or actions she regrets and expands on them during the course of the next hour. I’m not going to retell her list, I leave you to find out, but she talks about school days and bullying, the demise of High Street shopping, not always being the nice person we know in early relationships, some career choices and a poignant family matter. All the steps are joke laden and beautifully written and delivered. She also does a bit of celeb name dropping as well.
This was one of the quickest hours I have spent at the Fringe for ages, and I’m sure all would agree Ms Porter’s is a show that should not be missed.
