Natasha Pearl Hansen is a sassy performer with masses of energy. I got the feeling that Natasha Pearl could bring that energy whatever the audience – she certainly did today – but she’ll really sparkle in front of one that reflects it back to her. We were a bit lacklustre and mid-afternoony, so she worked extra persistently and won us round, the barriers eventually broken by a well-written and performed bit of filthiness.

Despite our lack of energy, Ms Hansen remained self-assured and delivered an enjoyable and entertaining hour. Her form of comedy might be described as classical stand-up: a series of interconnected vignettes and stories and reflections of varying lengths that combine to make something more. She was especially good in the parts where she found her rhythm and flow, and had good variations of pace and tone and emotion.

Ms Hansen is a good and skilled comedian, and I would be confident of her ability to deliver solid material in any circumstance. With a bit more refinement of the hour – and a meet cute with the right audience – Ms Hansen will be a Fringe performer to reckon with.
