Rose Matafeo – On and On and On 5*****

| On 13, Aug 2024

On taking my seat in the Pleasance Forth, I was advised by the staff to move a little, so I wasn’t in Rose’s eyeline. So, me and my notebook moved slightly to be less so. I wondered why, but it soon became evident. More on that later.
Dancing on to lively entry music, the first time ever she claims, this energetic Kiwi is straight down to business and launched into the start of her rapid-fire hour.
She has an avid dislike of people using notebooks apparently, berating people who used them and not Notes App on smart phone (thank goodness I moved!!) She talks of one of hers that extended to 16,000 words, because, like her she claims, is not good on endings.
Rose roams freely around her stage, never stopping, always opining on events in her life, relationships past, present and future, dating apps London buses, her appearance, ethnicity and much more. (I was kinda scared to note too much in my trusty notebook in case I got spotted.)
What I am sure of though is I fully understand why she won the Edinburgh Comedy Award back in 2018. She has a huge personality, stage presence a plenty, a wide-range of topics to cram into an hour of really top class laugh-out loud material and she certainly does deliver. Who cares about the endings?
Although she has been away from stand-up for a few years there can not be any doubt that Rose is a class act and tickets for her show are like golddust.
