Stephen Mullan : Rascal 4.5**** - One4Review

Stephen Mullan : Rascal 4.5****

| On 09, Aug 2024

Stephen Mullan bounds on stage full of energy with an immediately engaging personality and a cheeky grin!

You could definitely guess from the accent but we learn that Stephen grew up in Cork the son of an Argentinian mother and an Irish born again Preacher dad. Despite what you might expect, Stephen’s father was not exactly the loving affectionate dad but was in fact emotionally challenged and prone to dishing out the physical punishment to the young rascal Stephen.

The loose theme of the show is about the “bullshit” of male masculinity. Being a first time dad has lead Stephen to ponder on his own masculinity and how important it is to show love and not to be afraid to show vulnerability. Something that his father, or indeed his piers, would never reveal.

This has lead Stephen to therapy. Although it does seem to be therapy on a budget. Not easy, as finding the right therapist is key.

Stephen Mullan is very entertaining and has a brilliantly engaging personality. There are many very funny stories told. Snapshots of growing up in Ireland, being hopelessly rubbish at school but finding your way. A great craic!
