Lucy Churchill- Big B**bs Long Legs 4.5****

| On 23, Aug 2025

From the age of ten Lucy became self-conscious about her body, her 6ft 4” father and large chested mother passed on their attributes to Lucy and the result was a 5ft 11” blonde female with plenty to offer up front! Lucy was extremely self-conscious and I’m sure at the time she thought she was a bit different but as we all know it’s just part of life’s Pic ‘n’ Mix. So, did Lucy hide away or did she stand up and face her fears full on?

After a recorded intro that heightens the audience’s curiosity, Lucy enters the stage wearing a sequin outfit and blue boots to match. From the outset the stunning Yorkshire diva struts her stuff and oozes attitude and confidence as she is here to tell the world she is what she is and doesn’t give a F**k! She breaks into a song that describes herself, and her performance is similar to that of Ariana Grande or Cardi B, the self-written lyrics are very clever and match her performance sublimely.

Lucy then looks at the perception of women, are they intelligent, sexy or a dumb blonde and what are men’s attitude towards them? She summarizes this brilliantly with the self-penned songs ‘Being Blonde’ and ‘Wear these heels’ while performing a sassy dance routine that just takes her performance to another level. As she goes from strength to strength, Lucy delves into her own thoughts of what a ‘leading lady’ actually is with an interesting and at times hilarious outcome.

Before she takes her final bow, she sings another self-composed song but instead of it being full of attitude and sass, she brings it down a level and delivers an emotional yet self-triumphant song that encapsulates her journey and leaves her on a very solid pedestal.

The beauty of this show is the back story is about overcoming and becoming stronger and that’s exactly what happens with Lucy’s performance from start to finish. This was an outstanding performance from a young female fringe debutant as she provided character, humor, dance and delivered some very well written songs along the way. Although the show may suit a younger audience, there’s something for everyone, my only regret was it didn’t go on a bit longer!
