Matt Forde - Defying Calamity 4 ½ **** - One4Review
one4review | On 14, Aug 2025
Matt Forde has always been a political animal and a fine mimic so it is fair to assume that with the world as it is today, and the clever comedic slant he always brings to the table that there will be laughs a plenty to be had in his all too short show. And of course there are.
Walking smartly onto the stage Forde is straight in quips about Reform, fearing that they may be the next government. The impressions are always a highlight as Matt puts words said, and imagined, into such as Keir Stamer, Angela Rayner, Trump obviously, King Charles, Ed Miliband, Farage, Lee Anderson amongst a whole host of others. He also quips of a couple of additions could be made to the government.
Forde has had his own personal battle over the last few years with cancer, thankfully, he is currently in remission, but there is a fear that it may return and expounds that this has and still is impacting on his life, some of which are interspersed into proceedings.
As always Forde is an engaging performer who writes well, and delivers impeccably, finding humour in all he says.
He has become a Fringe institution and long may this continue.
