Danny Beard and Their Band 4**** - One4Review

This is Danny Beard’s first time performing at the Edinburgh Fringe and we waited with baited breath for this Ru Paul Drag Race Winner to put on a show for us! In fact we waited 20 minutes before Danny eventually came on stage.
Immaculately made up, beautifully coiffed hair and covered in sequins, Danny opened with an Adele classic whilst striding around the stage in a pair of impossibly high heels.
It’s a tried and tested formula, Drag Queen sings, Drag Queen slates an audience member and so it goes. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fairly enjoyable and entertaining show but I think I was expecting something more.
The band were fantastic, and Hayley the backing singer delivered some amazing vocals despite the fact she was feeling under the weather. The songs are very easy to sing along to but it just lacked originality.
At one point Danny mentioned the Queen of Liverpool, Cilla Black and I thought we were in for a rendition of “Anyone who had a heart”, but sadly no.
An enjoyable debut that still needs a bit of polish.
