For 17 years now Mark Simmons has been performing his shows at the Fringe. Maybe he is not the most famous of one-liner comedians but, in my opinion. he is probably the best. And I am not alone in my thoughts.  as even on a glorious summer’s day, his show was a sell-out with even a few standing, in a room deep in the bowels of the Old Town. It did fortunately have A/C.

Mark greets his audience, makes sure all are happy and then we are off on a rollercoaster of mirth and merriment, as he gags and puns, fortunately with occasional crowd interaction, to let us all catch our breath. Then off he goes once more. launching into the next section.

I did try to keep count of the jokes, but sheer weight of numbers eventually defeated me. Along with everyone I was laughing too much. Let’s just say it was shed loads.

Mark Simmons has a talent that is rare, a gentle approach while still being in control, he talks with people in his audience, always has jokes from his findings and comes across as a really nice bloke.
