BBC Stand Up Show Live - One4Review

One of the benefits of having the Beeb name on this show is that one is assured of quality performers and a slickly presented show. The running order has had virtually every ‘name’ appearing from time to time together with some very good lesser-known talent.

The compere for the night I saw was the cool and collected Jo Caulfield. She did her job with her own inimitable style and entertained as well as introduced the others with panache.

Welshman Rhod Gilbert was up first with some really good material. Rhod is playing at the Pleasance Cellar at 20.25 and it would be well worth checking out for his full set.

Nick Doody was next and the Yorkshire born comedian did his reputation no harm with an enjoyable set.

Addy van der Borough was for me the pick of the acts. I had not had the pleasure of seeing him before live, but I really will check out his full set next time there is an opportunity, he is not playing the Fringe this year.

The final act was larger than life Ninia Benjamin. This lady has stage presence to spare and some wicked material, especially if you are not easily offended, however she lost it with one heckler and it somewhat took the shine off her set.

Still, the line-up will be different each night, so checkout it out for some quality late night comedy.
