Joanna Neary’s Little Moments - One4Review

There is such an unaffected charm about Joanna Neary’s approach to comedy who could not find her endearing as she plays a whole range of characters? She is petite and her parody of herself as a young teenager in the 1980’s reading her actual diary entries – teenage crushes and anxieties – works wonderfully. As does her dancing to songs of that era such as Cat Stevens ‘Moon Shadow’. She can dance badly well. The air of innocence also works with a Celia Johnson character a la ‘Brief Encounter’. With wig and accessories changes, she can take on quite a different persona, for example, as the swinging wife in a variety of different sexual situations. Warm, gentle humour with an edge – a lovely hour! ****
