Carey Marx: Intensive Carey 4 Stars ****

| On 05, Aug 2013

Carey Marx has always been a vastly underrated comedian in my opinion, and I am at a loss as to how he is still not as well-known as others.

His major health scare last year prior to the Fringe is the main source of material for this year’s offering and as usual Marx style of dark humour punctuated with his mischievous grin captivates his audience from the outset.

There is no doubt that Carey is an superb writer and performer, he makes mileage out of the whole life altering experience tugging on the audiences emotions at times, also making you laugh at the indignities and fear he suffered during the ad days.

As a master painter uses paint for his art, Marx uses his words and writing to paint a picture as vividly yet his impish sense of humour is never far from the surface.

His engaging style keeps the audience rapt throughout, even dulling the sauna like heat that is in his venue, and I for one could have stayed put for another hour of his show. But all good things do come to an end and I am already looking forward to next year’s show. Glad you are back, and still at your best.
