Mervyn Stutter’s Pick of the Fringe 4 Stars **** - One4Review

There are quite a few Fringe institutions around, late nights, poor diet, rain of course and Mervyn Stutter’s Pick of the Fringe. The first three are not great but the last one is a different proposition.
For the excess of 20 years now the man in the pink suit fronts a selection of some of the best shows on the Fringe and like some similar shows theatre does get quite a look in on the different every day bill thanks to the research by Merv and his team in seeing the shows and selecting the best.
As usual Stutter warms up his audience with a few topical gags and several of his comedy songs and acts as MC introducing the performances and chatting with the performers afterwards about what has just been seen and with seven acts on the show I saw there should be something for everyone.
This show feels comfortable, almost like a good friend, Stutter is a genial host and the year by year attenders is testament to the popularity of this. Tickets are usually in short supply so if you want to get a taste of Fringe 2013 get to the box office soon before you miss out.
