The Breakfast Club 4****

| On 02, Aug 2014

First thing on a Saturday morning, I woke my somewhat bemused daughter from her bed to catch a train from Fife into Edinburgh to catch the appropriately named Breakfast Club on at The Gilded Balloon. I was soon forgiven. The show  consisted of three acts which are currently performing their own shows at the Fringe, our show hosted, Mat Ricardo, James Acaster and Bec & Tom from Bec & Toms Awesome Laundry. The host, Mickey D had the audience gripped from the offset and involved the audience from start to finish and introduced each act seamlessly. The children and adults alike were soon giggling away with the host, each of the acts were quite different but all were perfectly suited to the age of the audience, and the perfect advertisement for their own billings. I would be tempted to go back to this one if the acts in the show are varied, as it was great fun. As an added bonus, you are allowed tea, coffee and treats upon arrival, prepared by Mickey D’s lovely wife Boo. I would whole heartedly recommend this show to anyone with children at the start of their Fringe journey, it is a great showcase for other things available to watch. Gilded Balloon. August 2nd, 3rd,9th,10th,15th,16th,17th,22nd,23rd,24th. 10.45 Reviewed by Kath.
