Caledonian Folk and Blues at the Guildford 20th Year – 4**** - One4Review

Yep, that is right it has been twenty years since this event was first staged and yet if the night I attended is anything to go by it is as popular as ever.
Running for almost 4 hours this is one of the longer shows on the Fringe and is hosted by the perennial folk favourites Yard of Ale who as always can be counted on to play a wide range of folk and country music interspersed with their banter and Pedro’s jokes, but in case this is too much then a variety of special guests perform nightly. The guest band I saw was Bedford Falls, a duo who played an eclectic mix of music which was well received by the packed to the gunwales pub clientele. Other guests who have performed are Sandy Tweeddale, FCUkulele, Gallo Rojo, and On The Wagon and no doubt they would have been equally as popular.
As well as the excellent entertainment the Guilford Arms have as always an amazing array of real ales, fine wines and multitudinous spirits to keep the throat lubricated for singing along so what more could be asked for a great night out? Oh the cost? That’s free, with a bucket collection for a local charity, so please did deep.
