Camille O’Sullivan – 10 5***** - One4Review

Camille is back at the Fringe and all is right with the world again!!
Playing the cavernous Assembly Rooms Music Hall this magical Irish / French performer had the whole audience in the palm of her hand from her demure low key entrance to her unbelievable exit some 90 minutes later this charismatic performer, singer is not an adequate word for her, enchants one and all with her eclectic selection of songs and styles linking these as only she can.
The sound was superb, her backing band immense but of course it was the lady herself with a voice that can sing anything from rock through blues and jazz, smoky ballads to acapella numbers originally by Waits, McCall, Cave, Bowie, Keane not forgetting Brel and Cohen but all given the special touch of O’Sullivan’s brilliance that is what most people go year after year, time after time and never can get enough.
The performance is superb, theatrical, silly and fun, but the atmosphere created is unique. Cave’s The Ship Song is a staple of her set and the way this is done… wow!
If you can get a ticket this late in proceedings then do yourself a favour and grab it. They will not be easy to come by but it is a passport to 90 minutes I am sure you will never forget.
